Extrusion

Thinking about developing a new product? Changing an existing one? Evaluate a new ingredient in real process conditions? Ingredient performance evaluations and competitor comparisons? Do you want to optimize the use of your ingredient to showcase unique abilities?

Let the Food Processing Center design your new unique extruded snack, candy, pasta or cereal. Together we can design your product with any number of shapes, textures, flavors or colors.

Extrusions methods and processes include:

  • Corn Curl Extrusion
  • Breakfast Cereal Extrusion
  • Confectionary Extrusion
  • Multi-Grain Extrusion

Our services range from extruder rental and basic operation to completely customized product and process development. We operate a state-of-the-art Wenger TX-57 twin screw extruder offering:

  • Batch sizes as small as 50 lbs. and throughput of 100-300 lbs. per hour
  • Development of new products including breakfast cereals, pasta, direct expanded snacks and third generation snacks
  • Exploration of new shapes, flavors, textures and colors for line extensions
  • Access to a variety of dies and screw configurations
  • Use of auxiliary equipment such as pre-mixers, ingredient feed systems, dryers, embossing rolls and rotary die cutters

This extruder can accommodate almost any grain product, oilseed base, vegetable protein, meat or other raw materials, to process everything from snack foods to cereals to pastas.

Our equipment is directly scaled down from what is used in industry, so your results can be scaled up to your final manufacturing process.
