Objective: Assess consumer receptivity to your new product idea
Outcomes: Detailed information on prospective customer profiles, product preferences and price sensitivity
Benefits: Improved new product planning, customer satisfaction and profitability

Our survey-based Online Concept Test is designed to estimate market receptivity to your specific new product idea based on descriptions and images of anticipated product features, benefits and usage situations. Detailed “good prospect” profiles will be developed based upon the client’s anticipated retail price range. Specifically, the survey results will include the following information:

  • favorability of first impression
  • purchase likelihood if priced affordably
  • comparable products on the market
  • product attribute importance
  • product improvements
  • usage scenarios
  • retail distribution patterns
  • price sensitivity
  • current product usage patterns
  • brands used
  • food & nutrition, food shopping and health & wellness attitudes and behaviors
  • demographic and lifestyle profiles

The Food Processing Center's research staff will be responsible for making arrangements for the online respondent panel, questionnaire development, execution, data analysis, and reporting of results. The client will be responsible for providing a detailed product description and product images for the online concept test survey, and direct payment to the supplier of the online survey panel. A nationally representative sample of 500 completed surveys will be analyzed to identify the proportion of “good prospects” in the target population and the detailed “good prospect” profiles.

Estimated cost for the Online Concept Test: $5,495 - $6,9951.

1 Larger sample sizes and more specific sample profiles (i.e., sampling from only specific geographic regions, only consumers with specific lifestyle, demographic, or product usage patterns, etc.) may increase sampling costs.
