The team at the Food Processing Center understands there is a big difference between a good idea and a successful business. The National Small Food Manufacturers Conference was a great opportunity to meet other entrepreneurs and learn about important aspects of developing a product, taking it to market, and building a sustainable business. I recommend it to anyone who is thinking about starting a business, or wants to take an existing business to the next level.

Introducing food products in today's retail environment can be confusing. The Food Processing Center's Food Manufacturer's Conference does a great job in identifying potential problem areas and brings the participant in contact with resources to clarify and complete the process.

The National Small Food Manufacturer Conference in 2010 was our first time attending a specialty food industry event after we embarked on developing our first product line. It gave us a great opportunity to listen to food industry representatives ranging from FDA officials, trade groups, distributors and large specialty food chains, market and e-commerce experts, among others, as they discussed issues that are relevant to small producers like us. We even got to see some of them presenting at the NASFT conference later in the year. It was also a truly national event since we got to meet other manufacturers and association leaders from states close to us in North Carolina.

I have been able to attend the past two National Small Food Manufacturers Conferences and have found them to be a very good value for the cost. The conference agenda has provided a broad spectrum of timely and informative topics. The social media and marketing, website design and marketing were all informative sessions that we have incorporated into our business. Additionally the conference offers networking opportunities with other small food entrepreneurs.
